FUNDAMENTALS OF ART
This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of drawing, design and painting. It allows for artistic growth encompassing appreciation, analysis, individual and group expression through applied skills, study of art theory and history. These objectives will be reached through the study of design elements such as: line, shape/form, perspective, proportion, light, shade texture, color, local and global artist and artwork, from classical to modern art movements and student-based research. Through these studies students will be equipped to develop art exercises, projects, content entries, presentations, research and critical analysis papers, using various mediums that demonstrate great understanding through group and individual expression and articulation.
MUSIC
This course is a combination of choral music, sight-singing, music theory and music appreciation. Participation in concerts is a requirement. The course includes assignments, written tests and exams.
GLEE CLUB
The Glee Club class is open to any student, 10th through 12th grade, as an elective in the Fine Arts Department. An emphasis on choral performance will result in students presenting mini- concerts for school activities including the annual Weiner Roast, Christmas assembly, Songfest, and Fine Arts Week. Students will be the main choir for liturgies outside of the regular school schedule and represent the Academy in any community opportunities for choral singing. Written exams will test student understanding of music theory and performance craft. Participation in all Glee Club performances will comprise the more significant portion of a student’s grade.
