This one year course introduces students to accounting, imparting the idea that the discipline is used as a basis for making business decisions. The course provides students with the fundamental tools needed for critical business comprehension; students learn the vocabulary and the methodology of accounting. The course starts by introducing the basic elements of the accounting equation, surveys the accounting cycle, and progresses by analyzing in detail the transactions involved in the accounting cycle. This course is highly recommended for college bound students planning to pursue a career in accounting or business administration.

General Business is an introductory course in economics designed to examine the roles of consumers, firms, and governments in a free enterprise system. This one-year course helps students to gain an understanding of key micro/macro economic concepts needed to evaluate the impact of economic policies on individuals, households, firms, and societies. Through critical interpretations of business and economic news discussed in newspapers, magazines, radio, and television students will develop the basic business and economic skills necessary to succeed and compete in the business world.

General business aims to help students become wise, economic citizens who are able to think critically in a n ever changing global world. The course will provide students with the framework to enable her to improve her quality of life and enhance societal welfare in an information-based environment.


ENTREPRENEURSHIP

This one-year course introduces students to the various aspects of starting and operating a new business. The course is designed to provide an understanding of the process of creating and growing a new venture through the development of a business plan. The course is divided into three major sections:
Part I – The entrepreneurial Perspective – students are introduces to the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurial process from both a historical and a research perspective.

Part II – Creating and Starting the Venture – students focus on all the elements of the entrepreneurial process and are introduced to local entrepreneurs.

Part III – The Business Plan – Students learn the different components of a business plan and will create a business plan for a new local venture.

The course aims to provide students who are contemplating a career in entrepreneurship with the tools and skills necessary to successfully compete in the business world.
